Sanctuaire is a quarter century dream in the making. The owner has salvaged beautiful architectural items from San Francisco Victorians, collected high quality antiques and, with superb attention to detail, has integrated them into an open-beamed lodge to create an artistic expression of the highest order. This house is a work of art.
And yet for all its beauty, Sanctuaire is a comfortable retreat with an open kitchen/dining/living room with wood stove and baby grand piano. The great room opens to a large, wrap-around deck with loungers, two dining sets and gas grill. The sumptuously furnished master bedroom has a queen bed, woodstove, dressing table, sitting area, and its own small deck with amazing view. The marble-clad master bath has a clawfoot tub set in a bay window and shower. Downstairs, there's a cozy sitting room with gas fireplace, sleeper and television, opening to a small, covered deck with comfy chairs and view of the valley below. The small, exquisite downstairs bedroom has a double bed and a great view, opening to covered patio with outdoor armchairs. The downstairs bathroom has a large double shower and two sinks. Sanctuaire has wireless high-speed Internet and unlimited long distance.
Grounds: Located in a hilltop clearing on 29 very private acres with gorgeous mountain and forest views, this house is Sonoma County paradise. Hike down the hill and discover your own year-round creek with swimming hole and loungers, sit on your deck and hear nothing but nature's music, soak in your in-deck hot tub for four out of view of the house, explore acres of beautiful land...you’ll never want to leave. The beautiful, slightly wild gardens surrounding the house include a pond with fish, loungers, benches and picnic set, and hot tub with its own deck. The grounds are not fenced for dogs.

Location: This home offers extreme privacy, surrounded by 29 acres on a wooded mountain above the town of Cazadero. It's a 10 minute drive to downtown Cazadero which offers a general store/gift shop and post office. A few minutes more brings you to Austin Creek Beaches and local hangout/coffee shop, Raymond's Bakery. Duncans Mills is about 15 miles away and Guerneville about 20 miles, each with fun shopping, dining and nightlife. The closest Pacific Ocean beaches are about 10 miles west.
The tiny town of Cazadero draws its life from both the redwood forests and magnificent Austin Creek, with its quiet pools overhung with graceful bay laurel trees, meandering to meet the Russian River. The hillsides, lush with ferns, cascade hundreds of waterfalls in the winter and the creek roars to life. In summer, the sun warms a kinder, gentler creek, with its sand and gravel beaches, wading stretches, and swimming holes.
