Property Information
Good Commons is located in the village of Plymouth Union, Vermont, at the crossroads between Killington and Okemo ski resorts and the beautiful lakes of the Okemo Valley.

At the turn of the 20th century, Good Commons was a country store with a booming business selling groceries, household items and light fare to the village and many travelers making their way through the region. The Brown family took over the store in the 1930s, added an ice cream parlor and sandwich shop, and raised their six children in the home over the next several decades.†

Purchased by the current owners in 2006, Good Commons is now a 4700 square foot home that has just undergone a COMPLETE gut renovation, which combines ultra-modern amenities with the country tradition of rest and revitalization that has characterized this house for over 150 years. It is the perfect getaway for city slickers who want to have comfort and elegance within their country retreat.

This lofty beauty sleeps over 20 in 6 separate bedrooms and a sleep loft. The breakdown of beds is listed below.

Seating and table settings for 20 in the dining room. It is tastefully and elegantly furnished and decorated with antiques, plants and simple, soothing palates. Pets are okay with cleaning deposit. All beds, linens, towels are BRAND NEW.

The 750 square foot meeting room on the first floor (the old general store) makes this house an ideal vacation for family and friends, or the perfect retreat for theatre and dance companies, small businesses, law firms, ski clubs, alumni or church groups. At Good Commons, you can reenergize from a hectic week in the city with a steaming cup of tea and a peaceful night’s rest in a corner of the world where city lights don’t block out the stars and where the sounds of nature take the place of the din of traffic. Our home sits on one acre of land protected by a steep Vermont hillside, packed with wild vegetation and an apple tree in the front yard. Porches reside on the first and second floors in the front of the house, and a large deck in the rear is perfect for outdoor dining and grilling in the summer months. Take a dip in our hot tub or toast some marshmellows over a roaring fire.

All experiences at Good Commons are accentuated by the spectacular setting in a year-round recreational paradise.† In the summer, swim, kayak, canoe or water-ski at one of the many lakes only minutes away. Bring your bicycles and explore the endless valleys.† Mountain bike or hike the nearly two hundred trails in the surrounding mountains. And don’t forget the fly fishing, rock climbing and beautiful golf courses. In the fall, there’s nowhere else to be as the famous Vermont maple trees turn from green to fiery reds and golds.†

And then there’s the skiing. When you stay at Good Commons, you have your choice of the some of the best ski resorts on the eastern seaboard.†

Okemo and Killington Mountain ski resorts were named to Ski Magazine’s Top 10 Ski Resorts in the East for the 2006-2007 season, and both resorts are only ten miles away from Good Commons. Family-friendly Okemo features a 2,200 foot vertical drop from summit to base, a terrain park, a 20-foot hill of snow for children to dive into, an excellent ski school, and fantastic day care. Killington, voted number one in the east for aprËs-ski, is Vermont’s second-highest mountain with seven peaks of diverse terrain and has one of North America’s most powerful snow-making capacities.

There are many delicious restaurants in Killington and Ludlow, as well as a range of full-service and specialty stores where you can find great shopping and groceries.
