Who says you can not buy serenity?
Good for the Soul, located on lake Barkley in Cadiz, KY is just that. It is located on the main channel of Lake Barkley; great for watching the Mississippi and Delta Queen and river commerce.
Good for the Soul was built in the 70's but has been recently remodled and sleeps approximately 7. This home is located on 3 lots at the end of a dead end road for added security. The view of the lake from every window is just breath taking; so you can sit on the covered deck and watch the most beautiful sunsets and you never have to leave home to swim because the beach is in the backyard. For the nature lovers, there are hiking trails and 4 wheeler trails right outside the front door.The house has 2 fireplaces for those cooler nights.
You talk about relaxing it has an aquarium in the living room and a 20 foot KOI pond just off the covered deck. It is so peaceful to hear the running water and watch the KOI fish, whose names by the way are Earth, Wind and Fire. It also has a computer room with high speed internet . The main floor living room, kitchen, dinning room, 1/2 bath , computer room. lower level 2 bedroom ,1 full bath , laundry room bedroom walk-in shower . Spa Service menu upon request. Policies
GOOD FOR THE SOUL RENTAL AGREEMENT
Thank you for choosing Good for the Soul for your vacation needs.
We will work hard to create a fabulous vacation for you and your family and to earn your repeat patronage. In drafting the following rules we keep in mind your safety, enjoyment, and legitimate function of the house you will enjoy.
Should you need anything during your stay please let us know.
A. CHECK-IN TIME: check in time is 5:00 so please plan your trip accordingly. Payment must be received at least 30 days prior to check-in. If payment is not received 30 days prior to check in it will be considered a cancellation. Check-Out is 11:00 to allow housekeeping ample time to prepare for the next guests.
B. DEPOSIT/PAYMENT OPTIONS: For your convenience we accept VS/MC but a 4% service fee will be applied.. Payments can be made in cash, check or credit card. A $500.00 deposit-per week-is required by check/credit card to hold your reservation and must be received at least 45 days prior to reservation. The balance is due 45 days prior to reservation .A 45 day cancellation is required or funds will be forfeited. Cancellations made prior to 45 days will be refunded at 50%. There will be no refunds issued for cancellations less that 45 days. For trip insurance visit A credit card or debit card is required for all reservations regardless of payment options.
C. LINENS: For your convenience all beds will be made and a fresh supply of bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths and bath mats are provided. You will need to bring your beach towels with you.
D. PETS: House trained pets are welcome -2 maximum-however they must be kenneled in the garage area if left unattended. Please do not leave pets on deck and leave premise as they have been known to annoy the neighbors with constant barking.
E. NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted inside of the house.
F. OCCUPANCY/USE: restricted solely for residential use to the specific number of occupants contracted for. We do not rent to anyone under the age of 25. Legal photo id is required upon request. Use for occasions such as weddings, receptions, parties which increase the stated occupancy is not permitted. We reserve the right to deny occupancy, evict, and refuse refund at any time to anyone who appears to be detrimental to the property.
G. DAMAGES AND MISSING ITEMS: Guests in signing below assume full responsibility for any items missing or damaged due to negligence or action on guests part, except in the case of normal wear and tear reported to use within 24 hours of check in. The premises is inventoried and inspected before and after each occupancy. Guest will allow Good for the Soul to debit his/her credit card for any reasonable repairs, replacements or repair cost of missing or damaged items. Lost keys will charge $35.00.
H. INTERNET: A computer with guest internet and wireless connection is available. The device is NETGEAR and the Wireless network key is….september.
WHEN CHECKING OUT: Please do the following.
Do dishes and put them away. Take all trash containers and trash bags to the top of the driveway near the mail box. Trash pick up is Monday at 11:00. Strip beds and leave soiled linens in the laundry room.
Please note that no refunds will be given for appliance or utility failures. For repairs and maintenance, every effort will be made to remedy in as timely a manner as possible any problems that may arise. You can expect a courteous and responsible attitude to problem solving but no refunds will be made.
Occupancy is for 6-8 people.
Additional housekeeping/grocery shopping/stocking of liquor cabinet is available upon request and cost to be determined upon request.

HOUSE RULES
1. SMOKING: Please smoke outside. Ashtrays are located on the top shelf of the kitchen cupboard where glasses are located. Please deposit all cigarette butts in ashtrays or the chiminea. Be mindful of throwing cigarettes off of the deck; especially during the fall when dry leaves are prominent.
2. HEATING & COOLING: The HVAC thermostat is located between the kitchen and foyer. It takes a few minutes for the setting to engage. If there is no activity check the breaker in the laundry room. It rarely trips but has done this once or twice. The thermostat to the upstairs fireplace is located behind the fireplace. ( white box) The downstairs fireplace is on a remote that is located in the nightstand.
3. SANITATION SERVICE: Sanitation pick up is on Monday at 11:00. Please roll trash cans to the top of the hill near mailbox on Monday mornings. REMEMBER: Please do not flush any sanitary supplies.
4. FLOWERS: Please help out by watering garden containers in the front of house as needed.
5. PETS: Pets left unattended need to be kenneled inside or sequester in the garage. Please do not leaving pet alone and unattended on the deck as barking may disturb the neighbors.
6. WET SWIMSUITS: Please……no wet swimsuits on the sofa.
7. CARPETS: We respectfully ask that children eat at the bar or on the deck to prevent soils to the carpets.
8. CELL PHONES: Some cellular signals are weak. The best areas are in the Kitchen at the Dishwasher and the Deck next to the Mirror and screen door.
9. WIRELESS INTERNET: Key is SEPTEMBER
10. COMPUTER: Guest Access.
11. KOI POND: Pond breaker can sometime trip after heavy rain. I try and keep the junction covered with a piece of driftwood. The breaker box is located in the deck closet. Press reset button located at receptacle below deck, otherwise the pond become stagnate and smells bad. OR—the breaker may be tripped inside the deck closet. Please do not allow pets or children in the pond. The 3 KOI fish names are earth, wind and fire.
12. TV/DVD: To place TV on DVD press TV/VIDEO twice to Mode 2
13. MASTER BEDROOM CURTAINS: Curtains feel tension drawing to close. Please be careful.
14. COMPUTER PRINTER: Requires inkjet cartridges #21 & #22
15. KAYAK: If you use the paddle kayak, please remember to raise the rudder when pulling up on shore otherwise the rudder will snap. The cost to replace the rudder is $20.00.
16. BUGS: lake living most certainly involves communing with Bugs, especially in the evening. They will visit during the evening hours with inside/outside activity; so please just be with them and be sure to turn the lights out. They will all be dead by morning and the paint will not be damaged from trying to be rid of them.
17. INFLATABLES: There is an inflatable compressor in the upper level garage that may or may not fit, you can also go to the Handy Corner Market and use their air compressor.
18. GAS GRILL: To start, turn left handle on and light with match or lighter. Igniter does not work. Refills available at Handy Corner Market.
19. HANDY CORNER MARKET: The market closes at 7:00 during the summer season. Prices are high, but it is very convenient.
20. DEHUMIDIFIER: The lower level can require the dehumidifier, especially in the summer months. Please leave the dehumidifier ON in the laundry room. It typically needs emptying every few days.
21. DISHES/CHINA: The good china is for adults only.
22. OUTSIDE REFRIGERATOR: You may use the outside refrigerator for storage. It contains condiments and sauces left by other rentals and the owners. You are welcome to use these supplies if you wish.
23. SPIRITS: Cadiz is a dry county. The nearest liquor store is 30 minutes…Hopkinsville/Gracey, KY.
24. DEPARTURE REQUESTS: Reminder that departure is 11:00 AM.
Remove any remaining trash from inside the house. Please strip all beds and place sheets and linens on the laundry room floor. Place all glasses and dishes in the Dishwasher. Turn off all lights Reduce thermostat Leave outside door to garage open for Jake THANK YOU AND HOPE YOU RETURN NEXT YEAR!!
