Whispering Pines Guest Cabin is located in the heart of southwestern Montana, minutes from Georgetown Lake, Discovery Basin Ski Resort, and Montana's only Jack Nicolas Signature Golf Course. Centrally located 4 hours from Yellowstone and 4 hours from Glacier National Parks.
Exceptional outdoor recreation abounds including: world class fly fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, and sightseeing in historic Philipsburg and Anaconda.
Relax and enjoy the scenic views from the hot tub and deck. The master bedroom features hand-crafted log furniture (Queen bed), the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a single bed on top. The livingroom has a cozy gas fireplace and can sleep 2 on the hide-a-bed. All towels, linens, and cooking utensils are provided.

Old Works Golf Course - Play Montana’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature course and enjoy a truly challenging experience. This unique course is an excellent result of remediation efforts by ARCO and Superfund. Located 18 miles east of cabin.

Boat Rentals - Georgetown Lake Lodge
Wild life viewing - Mount Haggin is Montana’s largest wildlife management area at 54,000 acres. Look for moose, elk, deer, cranes and many other of the state’s native species. Go east out of Anaconda and then south toward Wisdom.

Blue Ribbon Fly Fishing within 0-2 hours - Rock Creek, Clark Fork River, Warm Springs, & the Big Hole River. The Rock Creek salmon fly hatch begins the first part of June.
Rent a boat at Georgetown Lake - boat launch/rental is approximately 1 mile from the cabin. Fish for rainbow and kokanee year round except March 31- the 3rd Saturday in May when the lake is closed to fishing.
Winter Recreation
Discovery Basin Ski Resort - Known for light powder, inexpensive prices, and uncrowded slopes. There are 440 acres of skiable terrain with a total vertical drop of 1,300 feet equally divided between beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert slopes. Located 6 miles from the cabin.
Forest Service Nordic Ski Trails - Begin at parking lot at Discovery Basin Ski Area. Length: 5.2 km of easiest trail, intermittent grooming; 3.1 km of more difficult trail and 9.6 km of most difficult trail.
Mount Haggin Nordic Ski Area - Enjoy trails that wind through historic logging camps and furnish spectacular winter mountain vistas that include over 25 kilometers of ski trails that reach to the Continental Divide. The trail system is groomed weekly and is located 15 miles south of Anaconda on Highway 274.
Snowmobiling - With 140 miles of groomed trails to elevations of 9,000 feet, there are three major trail systems include East Fork, west Georgetown Lake, which offers popular family snowmobiling with views of the Anaconda Pintler Mountains; Red Lion, east of Georgetown lake, which offers more challenging riding with an ever-present deep snow pack; and Blodgett, south of Georgetown Lake, which offer family touring with a snow shelter for picnics and cookouts. Other popular trails include Peterson Meadow, Montgomery Ridge, Windy Ridge, Storm Lake, Happy Creek, Warm Springs, and Hidden Lake.
Attractions
Fairmont Hot Springs - Natural hot springs are the big attraction, but Fairmont also offers an 18-hole golf course, waterslide, horseback riding, tennis, massage, and other activities.
Phillipsburg - The 1890s mining town has been renovated into a National Historic Business District and has been awarded as one of the nation’s Prettiest Painted Places. The state’s oldest operating school, jail and opera house are part of a walking tour of remarkable architecture. Highlights include quaint shops, a grand candy store, and the Sapphire Gallery. Visit the Granite County Museum and Mine Exhibit, home of the Ghost Town Hall of Fame.
Anaconda - Established in 1882 when “Copper King” Marcus Daly chose the site because the Anaconda Copper Mining Company of Butte needed a smelter for its vast amounts of copper ore. There are 3 historic districts and tours are available.
Granite Ghost Town - Silver was first discovered in the area in 1865 by Hector Horton. This was one of the richest silver mines on the earth and yielded $40,000,000. In the silver panic of 1893 word came to shut the mine down. The mine was deserted for three years, never again would it reach the population it once had of 3,000 miners.
Lost Creek State Park - A scenic recreation area with a short handicapped accessible walking trail to Lost Creek Falls and spectacular limestone cliffs that rise 1,200 feet above the canyon floor. Popular viewing area for mountain goats and bighorn sheep, who often stop to graze in this 500-acre canyon five miles north of Anaconda. A great spot for hiking and picnicking.
Big Hole Battlefield - This National Historic Landmark was the site of a decisive battle in the Nez Perce War of 1877.
